Material Samples

Different 1.25″ diameter X 1 inch thick material samples. From left,

  • beryllium copper (mostly copper) good for springs & no-spark tools
  • Inconel, a nickel-copper alloy (mostly nickel) high strength at high temperatures.
  • Steel. Iron + carbon, but not too much.
  • Titanium. Talk about hard! I killed 2 files taking saw marks off my first Ti sample.
  • Aluminum. Not as hard, lighter, softer
  • Magnesium. Really light. Really soft. Some hard Italian cheeses are harder, I’d swear it.
