AllAboutLean.com Website Relaunch

If you are a regular visitor on my site, you may have noticed that it looks a bit different. Yes, we did a major restructuring of the website and a website relaunch. Most importantly, the blog with over 640 blog posts is still there, and also right there on the front page. But we did significantly expand the additional offerings around the blog.

As mentioned in the last birthday post, the growing demand for consulting and training support inspired Jochen and me to start a lean consulting and training company. We now offer these services directly through our blog. Hence, this blog post is about the changes in the website and the new offers in training, consulting, coaching, and more.

AllAboutLean Academy

The AllAboutLean AcademyProbably the biggest addition is the AllAboutLean Academy. There you will find the different trainings we offer, either public at a conference hotel, in-house at your location, or (for some trainings) online, in English or German. The trainings are grouped in three sections:

Lean Fundamentals

Lean FundamentalsThe first group is Lean Fundamentals. These are introductory lean training sessions for people in manufacturing who are not yet very familiar with lean methodology. They give a broad overview of operational excellence. The Lean Basics training gives a solid introduction into the concepts of lean and supplies many examples as well as practically setting up and optimizing a simple assembly line. Lean Production goes deeper into setting up a production line, including value stream design, customer takt, and pull production, line balancing, and work standards. The Lean Flow training looks at how to get your production flowing, including an introduction to flexible line design, bottleneck detection, and finding and eliminating waste.

Lean Tools

Lean ToolsThe next section covers Lean Tools. As the name says, we will be diving deeper into different tools of lean manufacturing. The Lean Standards training goes into great depth on how to create, use, and improve work standards, the key to lean manufacturing. This course combines the courses Quick changeover (SMED), Pull Production, and Work Standards, all of which are also available separately. We also have trainings on Bottleneck Detection (one of my favorites) to help you to find the bottleneck in flow lines. Other deep-dive trainings are Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)Value Stream DesignLean Line Design, 5S and Visual ManagementLean Logistics, and (soon) Line Balancing.

Lean Mindset

The lean MindsetFinally, there are the trainings focusing on the Lean Mindset. These cover probably the hardest part of lean: how to get the improvement going and how to make a lean turnaround. For these, we assume that you know the basics and have quite some tools already. Starting with the Kaizen Mindset, we build a strong foundation for continuous improvement on your shop floor. The training combines the courses 5s & Visual Management (from the tools section), Seeing the Shop Floor, and Toyota Practical Problem Solving. The Lean Leadership training (currently in development) will complete AllAboutLean Academy with a strong focus on how to embed the lean mindset and culture within your company. It will contain the courses Hoshin Kanri and (soon) Shop Floor Management and Leading Lean.

All of the courses mentioned are also available separately. If you are interested, check out our course calendar of upcoming trainings. We will also offer bespoke trainings on almost any lean topic for an event within your organization.

AllAboutLean Consulting

As we have in the last few years, we continue with our consulting services to help you improve your organization. This can be classical consulting to solve whatever problem case is bothering you, expert coaching for individuals and very small groups to boost your lean understanding, and benchmarking if you want to know where you and your company really stand with your operations and where you still could improve. We also do public speaking for conferences, expert panels, and other events.

AllAboutLean Books

Shingo Publication AwardYou may be familiar with my award-winning books. All About Pull Production received the Shingo publication award and is already translated in nine languages. All About Work Standards goes into great detail on work standards. All About Manufacturing Fundamentals is an introductory textbook on product development and manufacturing technologies. There is also my series of Collected Blog Posts for each year of the blog (and yes, I need to create the 2024 volume…). More books are as always in the pipeline.

AllAbout… Us, and Organizational Stuff…

All About Lean LogoWe also updated and expanded the page about us, with sub-pages on me (Chris Roser) and my partner, Jochen Roser.

In the Service section you will find the Glossary, which gives you a brief overview of the most important 469 (as of this writing) terms in lean manufacturing. Of course, we also have an imprint, T&C, and privacy policy (who reads these anyway…). In short, I have no interest in your data and just try to keep all the website plugins under control that DO have an interest in user data.

Beyond that, we also did a bit of design change, making the sidebar look more modern (i.e., better), restructuring the menu, and translating quite a few pages into German. Oh, and we also created a page on the awards this blog has received. I was surprised how many there are by now. Did you know that we are the #1 lean manufacturing blog according to Feedspot, and the the #1 Operational Excellence Blog according to BTOES insights?

Overall, quite some changes. But the blog is and will be available for free for anybody who is interested in learning AllAboutLean! Let me know if you miss anything or would like to have more support from us. But now, go out, learn more about lean manufacturing and operational excellence, and organize your industry!
